Troops of Sector 2 of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, have intercepted two pickup vans conveying assorted items suspected to be logistics supplies for the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, in Yobe State.
The interception was disclosed on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X.
According to security sources quoted by Makama, the operation was carried out following credible human intelligence indicating the planned movement of suspected terrorist logistics from Dapchi through the Magumeri axis of the state. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops mounted a targeted operation along the identified route and successfully intercepted the two vehicles.
The drivers of the vans were arrested at the scene and taken into military custody for further interrogation. Security sources said the suspects are being questioned to determine their level of involvement, sponsors, and possible links to ISWAP logistics and supply networks operating in the region.
Items recovered from the intercepted vehicles include 31 spare tyres, 23 spare rims, two bicycles, 12 vehicle key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 tubers of yam, two blankets, nylon bags containing garri, adult and children’s clothing, one power bank, six mobile phones, and a cash sum of N92,600.
Security officials noted that the volume and variety of the items suggest they were intended to support terrorist activities, including transportation, communication, and the sustenance of fighters in remote and hard to reach locations.
The vehicles and all recovered items are currently in military custody, while investigations continue to uncover the full scope of the operation and identify other individuals involved in the supply chain.
Troops in the sector reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist groups and disrupting their access to logistics, stressing that intelligence driven operations remain critical to weakening insurgent capabilities across the North East.
The Nigerian Army, working alongside other security agencies and local security volunteers, has continued to intensify efforts to block supply routes, dismantle support networks, and degrade the operational strength of terrorist organisations operating within the region.
