Tragedy in Edo as Man Allegedly Kills Childhood Friend Who Returned From Abroad for Christmas

What was meant to be a joyful Christmas homecoming ended in tragedy in Oben Village, Benin City, Edo State, following the alleged murder of a young man by his childhood friend, an incident that has deeply shaken the local community.

The victim, identified simply as Didi, reportedly returned from abroad to spend the Christmas season with his family and loved ones after a period away. His return, which was expected to be a time of celebration and reunion, instead turned into a devastating loss.

According to reports circulating on social media and shared by eyewitnesses, Didi was allegedly lured into a bush by a longtime childhood friend identified as Amadin William, also known as Old Soldier. It was gathered that upon arriving at the location, Didi was attacked and murdered under disturbing circumstances that have not yet been fully disclosed.

The incident left residents of Oben Village in shock and mourning, particularly because the alleged suspect was someone the victim had known and trusted for many years. Community members described the development as heartbreaking and difficult to comprehend.

Following the incident, the suspect was said to have fled the area, raising concerns among residents. However, subsequent reports confirmed that Amadin William was later arrested in Benin City, where he was allegedly hiding after the incident.

The killing has sparked widespread anger and disbelief both within the community and on social media platforms. Many users have expressed concern over the increasing cases of violent crimes and the painful reality of betrayal among close friends and acquaintances.

The tragic incident has cast a dark shadow over Christmas celebrations in Oben Village, turning what should have been a season of joy into one of grief and reflection.
