This Lady Is Not Your Wife, Drama as Nigerian Pastor Discourages Member From Proceeding With Planned Wedding

A Nigerian pastor has sparked widespread controversy after openly discouraging a church member from proceeding with his planned wedding, insisting that the woman he intends to marry is not his divinely ordained life partner.

The wedding, which is reportedly scheduled to take place in January 2026, became a subject of public debate after a video of the cleric’s remarks began circulating widely on social media. In the footage, the pastor is seen addressing the young man directly, questioning his conviction about the relationship and warning him of potential consequences should he choose to go ahead with the marriage.

According to the pastor, if the young man truly believed the woman was his wife, he should proceed with the wedding but be ready to accept whatever outcome follows.

“If you feel she’s your wife, go ahead and marry her. Whatever you see in three months, you take,” the pastor said.

The cleric further alleged that the woman has three children from previous relationships, claiming that her family was deliberately concealing the information from the groom to be. He advised the young man to confront the woman about the allegation and insisted that any denial should be addressed directly through him.

“If you ask her and she says it’s not true, bring her to me,” he said.

Maintaining his position, the pastor declared that the woman was not meant to be the man’s wife and urged him to cancel the wedding plans entirely. He emphasised that continuing with the marriage would lead to consequences that could have been avoided.

“That woman is not your wife. Cancel it,” he stated.

The cleric also encouraged the young man to return to the church for prayers, suggesting that spiritual guidance would lead him to his true life partner at the appropriate time.

“Come, let us pray so your wife will come,” he added.

The video has since generated intense reactions across social media platforms. While some users criticised the pastor for interfering in a deeply personal and sensitive decision, accusing him of overstepping boundaries and exerting undue influence, others defended his actions, arguing that religious leaders often provide spiritual counsel based on faith and discernment.

As the discussion continues online, the incident has reignited broader conversations about the influence of religious authority in personal relationships, marriage decisions, and the balance between faith, personal choice, and accountability within modern Nigerian society.
