Son Arrested After Hollywood Director Rob Reiner and Wife Found Murdered

Police in Los Angeles have arrested the son of renowned Hollywood director Rob Reiner following the fatal stabbing of the filmmaker and his wife at their home in Brentwood, California.

According to WUSF Public Media, police responded to a medical emergency call at the couple’s residence on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at about 3.40 pm local time. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and discovered Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, dead inside the home. Authorities later confirmed that both victims had been fatally stabbed.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation. The Week Magazine identified the victims as 78 year old Rob Reiner, acclaimed for directing films such as Stand By Me and The Princess Bride, and his 68 year old wife, Michele, his longtime partner.

ABC News reported that police arrested the couple’s 32 year old son, Nick Reiner, later on Sunday night in connection with the killings. He was taken into custody near the University of Southern California and transported to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail pending further investigation.

The Los Angeles Police Department officially identified Nick Reiner as a suspect on Monday, December 15, 2025.
