President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to spend the Yuletide holidays after completing official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
Tinubu departed Abuja on Saturday for a three-state tour that combined official engagements with social and cultural activities.
During his visit to Borno State, the president inaugurated several development projects executed by Governor Babagana Zulum in collaboration with the Federal Government. These projects, aimed at improving infrastructure and social services, highlight ongoing efforts to support post-conflict recovery and development in the state.
While in Maiduguri, Tinubu attended the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and his bride, Hadiza Kam Salem. The ceremony drew prominent political and social figures, underscoring Tinubu’s presence at key events beyond his official duties.
The president then proceeded to Bauchi State, where he paid a condolence visit to the state government and the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the late Islamic cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who passed away on November 27. Tinubu’s visit was aimed at expressing the Federal Government’s condolences and support to the bereaved family and the Muslim community.
Following the Bauchi visit, Tinubu arrived in Lagos, where he is expected to engage in several activities during the holiday period. Among his planned engagements is the Eyo Festival on December 27, where he will serve as the guest of honour.
The festival, to be held at Tafawa Balewa Square, will celebrate prominent Lagos personalities, including the president’s late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, as well as former Lagos State governors, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola. The event is expected to attract political leaders, cultural icons, and members of the public, reflecting the city’s rich cultural heritage and festive spirit.
Tinubu’s presence in Lagos during the holidays underscores the balance between his official duties and engagement with social and cultural events, while also highlighting his ongoing connection with his home state and its people.
