Plateau Communities Urged to Brace for Midnight Attacks on December 27, Warns US-Based Humanitarian Leader
The Executive Director of the United States based humanitarian organization Equipping the Persecuted, Judd Saul, has issued an urgent security alert warning communities in Plateau State to remain vigilant against a potential attack by Fulani bandits on Saturday, December 27, particularly at midnight.
In a post on his verified X account, Saul, whose NGO provides critical support and resources to persecuted Christians in Nigeria, stated that he has received highly credible intelligence indicating that bandits have finalized plans to target several communities in the state. These include Kara Bisichi, Rassa, and Mararaban Foron in Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, as well as Latyi in Du District and Kuru in Jos South LGA.
According to Saul, the bandits had initially planned simultaneous attacks on these communities on Friday, December 26, but postponed the operation, now aiming to carry out the assaults on December 27. He stressed that the attacks are expected to occur late at night, emphasizing the need for residents to remain alert and take precautionary measures.
“People of these communities and surrounding areas should be on high alert on December 27, especially at midnight, because Fulani bandits and terrorists are planning a massive attack,” Saul wrote.
This is not the first warning issued by Saul. On December 14, he had alerted the public to planned Christmas Day attacks in several Plateau State communities, including Riyom, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas. He expressed frustration that his earlier warnings were dismissed by Nigerian authorities and security agencies, who accused him of spreading false alarms and inciting panic.
Saul further disclosed that intelligence reports indicate the bandits are amassing forces along strategic border areas, including the Plateau Nasarawa border, the Nasarawa Benue border, and the Nasarawa Kaduna border. The group is reportedly preparing heavily armed assaults on multiple communities simultaneously, highlighting the persistent threat posed by organized banditry and terrorism in the state.
In his alert, Saul also called on the Nigerian government and US authorities to act swiftly to prevent possible mass casualties, stressing that the security situation in Plateau State has worsened over the years despite repeated warnings and past interventions.
“They are weaponizing for a Christmas Day massacre. I am imploring the Nigerian government and President Donald Trump to take action so we do not witness a mass killing of Christians in Nigeria,” Saul said.
The warning comes amid rising concerns over the growing threat of armed banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks in Plateau State, particularly during festive periods. Residents of the identified areas are urged to implement precautionary measures, such as reinforcing home security, maintaining communication with neighbors, avoiding travel at night, and promptly reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
Local authorities and security agencies have yet to comment publicly on the alert. However, Saul’s warning has reignited conversations about the need for greater vigilance, increased security presence in vulnerable communities, and proactive measures to protect civilians from violent attacks.
The upcoming December 27 night is expected to be critical for the affected communities, as residents prepare to confront the threat posed by armed bandits while security agencies coordinate responses to mitigate potential losses.
