Pastor Chris Okafor Sues Social Media Commentator VeryDarkMan Over Alleged Cyber Harassment and Defamation

Senior Pastor of Grace Nation Worldwide, Dr Chris Okafor, has reportedly instituted legal proceedings against popular social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, over allegations of cyber harassment, defamation, and related online offences.

According to a statement circulating in the public domain and attributed to Pastor Okafor’s legal representatives, the lawsuit is based on alleged acts of cyber incitement, cyberbullying, cyber harassment, cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and malicious impersonation. The statement claims that the alleged actions were carried out by VeryDarkMan in collaboration with a woman identified as Miss Chi.

The legal team stated that the online attacks against the cleric did not begin recently. It alleged that the accusations were initially instigated by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala and others described as her associates. However, the current legal action is said to focus primarily on the roles allegedly played by VeryDarkMan and Miss Chi in amplifying, promoting, and sustaining the claims against Pastor Okafor on social media platforms.

In a strongly worded portion of the statement, Pastor Okafor’s lawyers dismissed Miss Chi’s allegations as laughable and accused her of fabricating a narrative deliberately designed to exploit the cleric’s reputation and public standing. The legal team described the claims as malicious and calculated, insisting that their client had been subjected to sustained online attacks that they believe amount to criminal conduct.

The statement read in part,

“It has come to our notice, as well as that of the public, the cyber incitement, cyberbullying, cyber harassment, cyberstalking, criminal defamation, and malicious impersonation perpetrated by Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and one Miss Chi. It is no longer news that this act of criminal stalking, cybercrime, and libellous articles against our client, Senior Pastor Dr Chris Okafor, started by one Miss Doris Ogala and her cohorts. However, our interest in this press briefing is on her laughable and gold digging story, calculated to exploit our client.”

As of the time of filing this report, VeryDarkMan, Miss Chi, Doris Ogala, and the other individuals named in the statement have not issued any public response to the allegations or the reported lawsuit.

The legal action has generated widespread reactions online, particularly given VeryDarkMan’s large following and reputation for outspoken commentary on public figures, as well as Pastor Okafor’s prominence within Nigeria’s Christian community.

Details regarding the court where the suit was filed, the specific claims being pursued, and the remedies being sought by Pastor Okafor have not yet been made public. The case is expected to attract significant public attention as it unfolds.
