Nigeria Police Confirm 11 Suspects in Custody Over Arise TV Anchor’s Murder

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that 11 suspects are currently in custody in connection with the killing of Arise News staff member Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who was murdered during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, in September.

The disclosure was made on Wednesday by FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, during an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.

According to the Commissioner, upon assuming office, one of his first priorities was to assess the progress of the investigation into Maduagwu’s death.

“As soon as I got here as FCT Commissioner of Police, one of the things I did was to try and find out the level the investigation had got into. And I want to assure you that, to the glory of God, as at today, at least 11 suspects are in custody,” he said.

Commissioner Dantawaye further stated that the charge sheets for the suspects are ready and that arraignments are expected within the nearest possible time, most likely immediately after the New Year.

The tragic killing of Maduagwu, who worked as a news anchor for Arise Television, occurred during an armed robbery attack, raising concerns about the safety of residents in the Federal Capital Territory and the prevalence of violent crimes in Abuja.

Authorities have assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that justice will be pursued for the slain journalist.

No further details about the identities of the suspects or the circumstances leading to the murder have been released at this time.
