Mysterious Death of Young Boy Shocks Agaie Town in Niger State

Residents of Agaie town in Agaie Local Government Area, Niger State, were left in shock and deep concern on Sunday following the disturbing discovery of a young boy’s lifeless body in a parked vehicle near the busy Agaie market. The incident has sparked fear and confusion among locals, many of whom are still grappling with the unsettling circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car, a Toyota Corolla with registration number RBC 439 BM, had been parked in the market area for several hours before the tragic discovery. As news spread, crowds gathered at the scene, with many residents speculating about how the boy came to be inside the vehicle. One local resident said, “People are wondering if he was murdered or died inside the vehicle. No one here knows who he is, and it is frightening to think such a thing could happen in our community.”

The Niger State Police confirmed the incident through the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun. He stated that on December 14, 2025, at around 8 p.m., the police received a report concerning the vehicle, which was owned by a man identified as Ibrahim from Fuyaka village via Katcha. According to SP Abiodun, the vehicle had been parked near Agaie market since about 9 a.m.

SP Abiodun explained that when Ibrahim returned to his vehicle at approximately 6 p.m., he opened it and made the shocking discovery of a young boy’s corpse. The deceased was later identified as Haji Abubakar, a 10-year-old boy from Edoko village via Agaie. The body was subsequently evacuated to a nearby hospital for further examination and autopsy.

Authorities revealed that the vehicle owner, Ibrahim, has been invited for questioning as part of ongoing investigations. Police are examining all possibilities, including negligence, foul play, or other criminal factors that may have contributed to the boy’s death. SP Abiodun emphasized that the investigation is being conducted with urgency, and updates will be provided to the public as more information becomes available.

The incident has left residents uneasy and concerned about safety within the community, especially around crowded public spaces such as the market. Many locals are calling for swift action to ensure justice is served and that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
