Pauline Potter, widely known for her appearance on season three of TLC’s reality series My 600-Lb Life, has died at the age of 62. The news was shared by her son, Dillon Brooks, on YouTube, revealing that Pauline passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, after months of ongoing complications stemming from a serious car accident earlier this year.
Dillon explained that the accident occurred in January while he and Pauline were driving in the early morning before sunrise. Their vehicle collided with a truck and trailer that was stopped in the middle of the road without any lights. The driver reportedly told them they had run out of gas and were stranded in the road. The impact allegedly spun the car around, leaving it facing the opposite direction on the roadway. Dillon escaped without serious injuries, but Pauline suffered multiple injuries, including cuts on her limbs, broken ribs, and severe chest pain.
In the months following the accident, Pauline faced a series of serious health complications. She began experiencing digestive issues that made it difficult to keep food down. By August, doctors diagnosed her with a blockage in her esophagus, which further prevented her from maintaining proper nutrition. She spent extended periods in hospital care, but ongoing complications made it impossible for her to undergo all the surgeries and procedures doctors recommended. Pauline later entered a rehabilitation facility to improve her nutrition and physical condition. On November 19, she was transferred to hospice care after exhibiting signs of heart and respiratory failure.
Pauline Potter first gained national attention after her appearance on My 600-Lb Life, a show that chronicles the lives of individuals struggling with extreme obesity and their attempts to transform their health under the guidance of Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. At the height of her weight, Pauline weighed 647 pounds, earning recognition as one of the heaviest women in the world. Following her initial appearance on the show, she reportedly lost around 400 pounds, eventually reaching approximately 223 pounds by 2020.
Despite her success, Pauline later voiced concerns about her portrayal on the show, stating in a YouTube video that she felt disappointed with how certain aspects were presented and that the series “turned and twisted a lot of things.” She continued to appear on the spin-off series My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now?, sharing updates on her remarkable weight loss journey and ongoing challenges.
In addition to her health struggles, Pauline had publicly shared her personal experiences regarding weight, diet, and self-image. She discussed the difficulties of confronting lifelong eating habits, and admitted that she often felt embarrassed about her weight before embarking on her transformation.
Her son Dillon Brooks created a GoFundMe campaign to assist with memorial costs, sharing that he and his family had been aware that Pauline’s health issues might have life-threatening consequences. No official cause of death has been released, but Dillon indicated that her passing was related to the complications she experienced following the January car accident.
Pauline Potter’s story remains one of the most dramatic and inspiring in the history of My 600-Lb Life. Her journey highlighted not only the physical struggles associated with extreme obesity but also the emotional and psychological challenges she faced along the way. Her courage in confronting these obstacles, coupled with her remarkable transformation, left a lasting impact on fans and followers of the series.
Tributes have poured in from fans and the reality TV community, honoring her resilience, her dedication to personal change, and her role in bringing awareness to the challenges faced by individuals living with severe obesity. Pauline’s journey, both on and off-screen, continues to inspire those confronting similar struggles, reminding the public of the importance of perseverance, determination, and hope.
