A 30 year old man has been stabbed to death in the early hours of Christmas Day in Wolverhampton, triggering a murder investigation by West Midlands Police.
Officers were called to Burcot Avenue shortly after 3.30am on 25 December following reports that a man had been attacked. On arrival, police found the victim suffering from stab wounds.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed, and specialist officers are providing support to the family during what police described as a difficult time.
West Midlands Police confirmed that two men, aged 35 and 58, have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. Both suspects remain in custody as detectives continue their enquiries.
Detective Chief Superintendent Ed Foster said investigators are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the fatal attack. He explained that officers are conducting a range of urgent enquiries, including forensic examinations at the scene, reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and speaking to potential witnesses.
“We are in the early stages of our investigation and carrying out quick time enquiries to understand exactly what happened,” Foster said. “We are appealing to anyone who may have information, no matter how minor it may seem, to contact us.”
Police have urged residents in the area who may have seen or heard anything unusual during the early hours of Christmas Day to come forward. Officers are particularly interested in anyone with dash cam or doorbell footage from the vicinity of Burcot Avenue around the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
