Man Confesses to Killing Parents, Dismembering Bodies and Dumping Remains in Rivers in Uttar Pradesh

Police in Uttar Pradesh have uncovered a deeply disturbing case of double murder after a 37 year old man allegedly confessed to killing his parents, dismembering their bodies and dumping the remains in two different rivers in Jaunpur district.

The accused, identified as Ambesh Kumar, also known as Rinku, a B.Tech graduate, was arrested on December 15 after being on the run for more than five days. He is accused of murdering his mother, Babita Devi, and his father, Shyam Bahadur, following a domestic dispute at their family home in Ahmedpur village.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on December 8 after an argument broke out between Kumar and his parents over money and unresolved family issues. Police said the dispute escalated rapidly, leading to a violent confrontation.

During questioning, Kumar reportedly told investigators that he struck his mother on the head with an iron pestle during the argument. His father attempted to intervene and allegedly tried to call the police for help. At that point, Kumar attacked his father with the same object. When his father continued to scream for assistance, Kumar allegedly strangled him with a rope.

Inspector Sripraksh Shukla, the station house officer of Jafrabad Police Station, said the accused admitted that he later realized both parents were no longer breathing.

Police said Kumar then began planning how to conceal the crime. In a chilling confession, he told investigators that he retrieved a metal cutting saw from the basement of the house and cut both bodies into three parts each. The dismembered remains were packed into several plastic bags and sacks.

Investigators revealed that Kumar cleaned blood stains from the house and loaded the sacks into the boot of his car. He then drove to Belav bridge on December 9, between 4 pm and 5 pm, where he dumped most of the body parts into the Gomti River.

After returning home, Kumar reportedly discovered that one severed leg belonging to his mother had been left behind. Police said he placed the limb in a bag and later disposed of it in the Sai River near Jalalpur.

Police further disclosed that Kumar admitted to thoroughly washing the trunk of his car with detergent in an attempt to remove blood traces. He also allegedly hid the murder weapon, the metal cutting saw, along with his parents’ mobile phones, under sand on the second floor of the house.

Investigators believe these actions were carried out in a calculated effort to destroy evidence and mislead authorities.

The case came to public attention after Kumar’s sister, Vandana, filed a missing persons report on December 13. She told police that Kumar had contacted her on December 8, claiming their parents had left the house after an argument and that he was searching for them. When Kumar later switched off his phone and could not be reached, the family grew suspicious and alerted the police.

Following sustained investigations and tracking, police arrested Kumar on December 15. During interrogation, officers said he initially denied involvement but later broke down and confessed, providing detailed accounts of the killings and disposal of the bodies.

Police said Kumar had been living with his parents for about three months prior to the incident. He is married and has two children. Authorities are examining possible financial pressures, domestic tensions and psychological factors that may have contributed to the crime.

Search operations are ongoing to recover remaining evidence, and forensic teams are conducting examinations on the recovered remains. Police have stated that Kumar will be charged with murder, destruction of evidence and other related offences.

The brutal nature of the crime has shocked residents of Ahmedpur village and surrounding communities. Locals described the family as quiet and expressed disbelief that such violence could occur within the household.

Police officials have assured the public that the investigation will be thorough and that the accused will face the full weight of the law. As the case progresses, authorities say further details may emerge regarding the motive and circumstances surrounding one of the most gruesome domestic crime cases reported in the district in recent years.
