A Nigerian lady travelling from Abuja to Imo State has shared her frustrating experience after being trapped for several hours in a massive traffic gridlock along the Abuja Lokoja highway.
The traveller, whose video was shared on TikTok by a user identified as @celes_icmhomes, revealed that she left her house as early as 6am but remained on the road late into the night due to the prolonged delay.
According to her account, the heavy traffic occurred along Lokoja Road, where numerous private vehicles and commercial buses were completely locked in place with little or no movement for several hours.
The video, which was shared at about 8pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025, showed a long stretch of vehicles filled with exhausted and stranded travellers.
In the clip, she wrote, “Who say nobody dey travel by road again? Abuja to Lokoja since morning still dey road. When I wan reach Imo State.”
When social media users asked what caused the gridlock, the lady responded in the comment section, saying that there was no obvious reason for the traffic.
The video quickly went viral, attracting reactions from Nigerians who expressed a mix of humour and concern. While some questioned the necessity of road travel during the festive period, others joked that travellers might arrive after Christmas.
Several users also shared similar experiences, noting that road travel during festive seasons has become increasingly unpredictable and stressful.
As Christmas travel intensifies across the country, the viral clip has reignited conversations about the condition and safety of Nigerian roads, particularly amid growing concerns over traffic congestion, insecurity, and long travel delays on major highways
