“I Withdraw ₦7,100 Daily” Nigerian Soldier Explains How He Reassures His Mother That He Is Alive

A Nigerian soldier has moved many people online after revealing the emotional reason behind his simple but meaningful daily routine at a Point of Sale withdrawal stand.

In a video that has gone viral on TikTok, the soldier, identified by the username @Oliver, shared that he withdraws ₦7,100 every day, a habit that eventually caught the attention of a security guard at the location.

According to the soldier, the guard once asked why he did not withdraw a larger amount of money that could last several days instead of making daily trips. In response, he explained that the routine was never about convenience or spending, but about reassuring his mother.

“This account is linked to my mum’s phone number. Every time I withdraw money, she receives a message. That is how she knows her son is alive,” he said.

The revelation struck a chord with many viewers, drawing attention to the quiet fears that parents, especially mothers, carry when their children serve in dangerous professions. For his mother, the daily bank alert serves as a comforting sign that her son is safe, even without a phone call or message.

The story has since sparked an outpouring of emotional reactions on social media. Many users praised the depth of a mother’s love and the soldier’s thoughtfulness in considering her peace of mind. Others described the act as both heartbreaking and beautiful, noting how love often reveals itself in the smallest routines.

Several commenters also offered prayers for the soldier’s safety and shared similar experiences of how their families find reassurance during times of distance and uncertainty.

Though modest and routine, the soldier’s daily withdrawal speaks volumes. It is a powerful reminder that love does not always come in grand gestures. Sometimes, it is found in quiet, consistent actions that provide comfort, reassurance, and hope.
