Husband Recounts How Pregnant Wife, Infant Son Were Macheted and Burnt in Kano

Residents of Sabuwar Gandu, a community in the Kano metropolis, have been thrown into deep mourning following the gruesome killing of a pregnant woman, Alawiyya Nasiru, and her three year old son, Ibrahim, by yet to be identified assailants.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Friday evening while the husband, Nasiru Hussaini, was away at his workplace. On returning home, he met the apartment locked from outside and was forced to break in, only to discover the lifeless bodies of his wife and child.

Speaking to journalists, the bereaved husband said his wife and son were brutally macheted and later set ablaze.

“I left them in good condition before going to work. When I returned, I met the house locked. I forced my way inside and saw that they had been macheted, killed and burnt to ashes. The attackers also carted away our properties before leaving,” Hussaini said.

He prayed for divine intervention and urged security agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

“I pray that God exposes the perpetrators, and I hope the authorities will pursue this case to its logical conclusion,” he added.

The incident has heightened fear and tension among residents of the area, who noted that it was not the first violent crime recorded in the community. They recalled a previous incident in which the body of a young woman was discovered in an uncompleted building, with parts of her body mutilated.

Concerned residents have appealed to the authorities to strengthen security in the area through the deployment of more security personnel.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna, said an investigation had commenced.

According to him, the command is working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killings and to apprehend those responsible.
