The Hisbah Board in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State has carried out a coordinated raid on a residential building suspected to be a hub for immoral activities, leading to the arrest of several men and women.
The operation took place at about 9.30 p.m. on December 17, 2025, following reports from residents about alleged indecent and unlawful activities being carried out at the house. The raid was confirmed in a statement issued by the Hisbah Board’s Information Officer, Malam Abdullahi Muntari.
According to the statement, the operation was led by the Acting Operations Commander of the Hisbah Board in the area, Malam Aliyu Ahmed, who said the action became necessary after repeated complaints from members of the community.
He explained that the house was suspected to be used for immoral acts, including alleged sexual activities involving unmarried youths. During the raid, several young men and women were apprehended inside the premises.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals are comfortable allowing their houses to be used as a centre for immoral and unacceptable activities within the community,” Malam Ahmed said. “We arrested several young men and women, and a thorough investigation will be carried out to establish the facts surrounding the incident.”
He added that the suspects would be questioned and appropriate action would be taken in line with the laws and moral guidelines governing the state.
The Hisbah Board reaffirmed its commitment to upholding moral values and maintaining social order in Katsina State. The board stated that similar operations would continue across the state to curb activities considered contrary to public morality and community standards.
Residents of the area have expressed mixed reactions to the development, with some commending the Hisbah Board for its intervention, while others called for due process and fairness in handling the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, investigations were ongoing, and the identities of the suspects had not been disclosed.
