Abuja authorities were on high alert after the decomposed body of a woman, identified as Hajiya Fanna Mohd Abare, was discovered in her Federal Housing Authority (FHA) residence in Maitama.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that Hajiya Abare had been unresponsive for approximately two days before her sister, Hajiya Aisha Mongo, found her lifeless on December 17, 2025, at around 5:00 pm. The bedroom door had been locked, prompting the sister to seek assistance in forcing it open before discovering the body.
Police detectives were promptly dispatched to the residence to conduct preliminary investigations. Given the advanced state of decomposition, authorities also contacted the Abuja Environmental Health Department, which evacuated the body to prevent potential public health hazards. The remains were later buried at Gudu Cemetery.
Officials from the police confirmed that no foul play is suspected in the case, though investigations are ongoing to determine the official cause of death. Sources indicate that authorities are looking into all possible circumstances surrounding her passing, including natural causes and health-related issues.
The discovery of Hajiya Abare’s body has raised concerns about the welfare of residents living alone, with experts urging families and neighbors to maintain regular contact with vulnerable individuals. Community members and security analysts have stressed the importance of quick reporting when someone has been unresponsive for an unusual period, as timely intervention can sometimes prevent such tragic outcomes.
