Birnin Kebbi. The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, has granted interim bail to the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in a case involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Justice Bello Kawu delivered the ruling, holding that the bail application was granted on the grounds of exceptional hardship, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice.
The court reviewed and reactivated bail conditions earlier fulfilled on November 28, 2025. The conditions include the provision of two sureties, namely the Director General of the Nigerian Legal Aid Council and a serving member of the House of Representatives representing the Augie and Argungu Federal Constituency. Malami was also ordered to surrender his international passport.
The matter has been adjourned to January 5, 2026, for the hearing of the motion on notice.
