Controversial Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has reportedly been arrested following an escalating public dispute with a Lagos based cleric, Dr Chris Okafor, although official confirmation from the police remains unavailable as of the time of filing this report.
The alleged arrest occurred on Saturday, December 20, 2025, during a livestream in which Ogala was engaged in a conversation with an online personality. During the broadcast, the interviewer asked the actress whether police officers were present in her residence. Ogala responded affirmatively, stating that the police were in her house at the time.
During the livestream, the actress was also heard reprimanding a woman identified as Charity for allowing people into her home despite earlier warnings. The interviewer further questioned whether the officers had presented a warrant and advised Ogala to keep her phone connected while the situation unfolded.
Reacting to the development, comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate Dee One announced the alleged arrest via his Instagram page. In his post, Dee One claimed he had previously warned Ogala that her allegations against the cleric did not add up and would likely require legal clarification. He added that the matter would now have to be resolved in court.
Efforts by this reporter to reach Ogala for her reaction were unsuccessful, as calls to her phone did not connect and messages sent via WhatsApp had not been returned as of the time of filing this report. Similarly, attempts to reach Dee One for additional details regarding his claims proved abortive.
Meanwhile, a response from a WhatsApp line obtained from the church’s official social media page and saved as Dr Chris Okafor dismissed the allegations levelled against the cleric. The message described the claims circulating online as false and urged members of the public and the media to disregard what it termed rumours and unverified reports.
The reported arrest follows a series of emotional videos and social media posts shared by Ogala over the past few days, in which she accused Okafor of betrayal, emotional manipulation and reneging on an alleged promise of marriage. She claimed the relationship spanned several years, beginning around 2017, and alleged that she ended her previous marriage at his insistence.
Ogala further alleged that she suffered emotional and psychological distress after the relationship was abruptly terminated. Some of the posts, including one allegedly showing the cleric in a private setting, have since been deleted.
The controversy intensified earlier in the week following Okafor’s wedding to his new bride, identified as Pearl, which reportedly took place despite the actress’s public accusations and ongoing online backlash.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor any official spokesperson has issued a statement confirming the arrest or outlining any charges against the actress. The situation remains a developing story.
