In a move set to shake up Nigeria’s fuel market, Dangote Refinery has sharply reduced its ex-depot petrol price, aiming to gain a competitive edge over the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and other filling stations nationwide.
PetroleumPriceNG on Friday morning revealed that Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price dropped from N828 per litre to N699 per litre, representing a N129, or 15.58 per cent, reduction in petrol prices.
This adjustment marks approximately the 20th price review by Dangote Refinery this year and comes just ahead of the Yuletide season, a period that usually sees increased demand for fuel across the country.
The price reduction by Dangote Refinery follows recent announcements by the NNPC and other fuel stations, which implemented at least two price reductions in the past three weeks, pushing retail prices in Abuja to between N915 and N937 per litre.
The latest move is expected to intensify competition in Nigeria’s petrol market, offering relief to motorists and setting the stage for further price adjustments in the coming weeks.
