A survivor of a Boko Haram attack has revealed disturbing details about how insurgents deliberately used silent methods to massacre residents without alerting nearby communities.
According to a report by Channels Television, the account was shared on Sunday, December 21, 2025, by Yakubu Dauda, who survived a late night attack in Yobe State.
Dauda recounted that the attackers avoided using firearms during the initial phase of the assault, despite being heavily armed. Instead, they relied on knives and other crude weapons to carry out killings quietly and prevent residents from fleeing.
He said the militants arrived in an organised manner, not as a disordered mob. According to him, they came with specific weapons and a designated executioner, prepared solely for mass killings.
Dauda explained that when he was surrounded by about 20 armed men, an order was given for his execution. He recalled hearing them say, “Mallam, come and slaughter him.”
According to Dauda, the Mallam was already present and prepared, as the attackers had brought stones and other tools with the intention of killing all Christians in the area.
He added that the presence of a Mallam appeared to give the killings a form of ritual authority or justification.
Dauda further explained that although the insurgents possessed sophisticated weapons, including AK 47 rifles, they deliberately chose knives during the early stages of the attack.
“They have everything. They are well equipped. They have AK 47s and other weapons,” he said.
He noted that the use of silent killing methods was strategic, aimed at ensuring that no noise would alert other villagers.
“If they fired a gun, others would hear and run away,” Dauda said. “The silent killings were meant to slaughter people without anyone knowing.”
The survivor’s account sheds light on the calculated and brutal tactics used by Boko Haram to wipe out communities under the cover of darkness, leaving little chance for escape.
