The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has claimed a major victory following a series of airstrikes that reportedly flattened multiple terrorist camps in Katsina State, killing scores of fighters and dismantling key criminal networks responsible for kidnappings, cattle rustling and violent attacks across the North-West.
According to NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the coordinated strikes were executed under Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) and Operation Hadin Kai, guided by real-time intelligence that pinpointed fortified enclaves used by notorious terror commanders in Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi Local Government Areas.
The first assault, launched at about 6:30 a.m. on November 27, targeted the base of a wanted terrorist kingpin whose camps had served as hubs for mass abductions and criminal activities. Precision-guided munitions destroyed the hideout, while follow-up surveillance allowed air assets to target fighters attempting to regroup and escape.
Later in the day, at 5:55 p.m., a second strike hit a major enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, destroying logistics hubs, weapons storage facilities and operational shelters used by the insurgents. Air force officials said the strikes were carefully planned to minimize civilian casualties while neutralizing high-value targets.
Ejodame noted that the operations successfully disrupted the command and control structures of the terror groups and significantly reduced their capacity to plan attacks or carry out kidnappings in the affected areas. “Several terrorists were neutralised, and their networks significantly degraded,” he said, emphasizing that these operations have further denied criminal groups the freedom to operate in the region.
The successful airstrikes mark one of the most decisive blows against terror cells in Katsina in recent months. Security forces are intensifying pressure on bandits and terrorist networks destabilizing communities across the North-West, while local residents continue to hope for improved safety and stability. Analysts have described the operation as a strategic move to weaken insurgent networks before the peak of the dry season when attacks historically increase.
Communities in the region have expressed cautious optimism following the strikes, but authorities warn that sustained operations and intelligence-led campaigns are necessary to ensure long-term security. The airstrikes underscore the Nigerian military's continued commitment to tackling terrorism, protecting civilians and restoring order in areas plagued by violence.
