19-Year-Old Allegedly Kills Boyfriend Over Cheating in Ogun

A 19-year-old woman, Olamide Adewole, has allegedly killed her 22-year-old boyfriend, Ayomide Ajayi, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State following a dispute over infidelity. According to reports, Adewole discovered that her boyfriend was allegedly cheating on her, which led to a heated argument during which she allegedly stabbed him to death. She reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by a neighbour. Officers from the Ogun State Police Command intervened to prevent a mob from attacking her.

A source stated that on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Miss Omotayo, a resident of 3 Anuoluwapo Street, Aluminum Gas Line, Sango-Ota, reported that her son, Ayomide Ajayi, had a dispute with his girlfriend at the same address. During the altercation, Adewole allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife, causing his death.

Police detectives responded promptly, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife used in the attack. The deceased’s body was taken to the General Hospital, Ifo Mortuary, for an autopsy.

The suspect is currently being interrogated as the investigation continues. A police source stated that Adewole would be transferred to a higher command, and the case is expected to be charged in court. Authorities assured that the legal process would be followed to ensure justice is served.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended residents and officers for their swift response in preventing further escalation. He urged the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to assist the police with credible information, particularly during the festive season when domestic disputes and other crimes often increase.

This tragic incident highlights concerns about relationship-related violence among young people and underscores the importance of conflict resolution, responsible communication, and adherence to the law during disputes.
