Yvonne Jegede Praises Nigerian Navy Officer for Upholding the Law in Abuja

Yvonne Jegede

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has publicly commended Lieutenant A.M. Yerima of the Nigerian Navy for his professionalism and courage during a recent incident in Abuja.

According to Naija News, Jegede shared her praise on her Instagram story, describing the officer as the embodiment of a “new Nigeria” and applauding him for restoring hope and faith in the nation. She wrote:

"The face of a new Nigeria… Thank you for restoring my faith. Thank you for giving us hope as a nation. Thank you for letting us know that all hope is not lost. I salute you sir. AM YERIMA NIGERIAN NAVY."

Her comments follow Tuesday’s viral video showing a heated confrontation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Lieutenant Yerima at a construction site in Gaduwa District, Abuja. The dispute reportedly involved a contested parcel of land allegedly linked to former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Zubairu Gambo.

In the video, Minister Wike accused the officer of unlawfully blocking his access to the property, insisting that no one is above the law. Lieutenant Yerima, however, maintained he was following superior orders, sparking widespread discussion online.

Jegede’s tribute has resonated with many, highlighting public appreciation for officials who act with integrity and respect for legal procedures.
