A young Nigerian soldier has stirred emotions across social media after releasing a voice note sent by his brother, who expressed deep fear and concern following a video the soldier posted from a bush location in a conflict zone.
The soldier, who is currently deployed in a high risk area, had earlier shared a short clip showing himself in the bush. The video immediately raised alarm among his family members and online followers, many of whom worried about the dangers he faces daily.
In the voice note, his brother pleaded with him to avoid dangerous areas and protect his life. He said, “Ogo, stop staying at where they are shooting gun. Have mercy on our parents. Do not die in Kaduna.” The emotional message revealed the anxiety and agony experienced by families of frontline military personnel.
The soldier shared the voice note to highlight the personal fears and struggles that families endure while their loved ones serve in conflict affected regions.
Social Media Reactions
The voice note quickly went viral, prompting a wave of reactions from Nigerians on various platforms. Many expressed concern for the soldier’s safety and criticised the conditions under which troops are deployed.
A user identified as adedapo adigun wrote, “Ogo come back home. This is the cry of loved ones at home. Our Armed Forces are no longer armed enough to face the armed bush men. We no longer have pride in being part of the Armed Forces because they send them into the bush unarmed. Which way Nigeria.”
Another user, Janet akindele, said, “The happiest day of my life was when my brother voluntarily retired from the Nigerian Army after spending fifteen years and some months. Join the Nigerian military at your own risk.”
A user with the handle iamKcmadu asked, “How old is this boy to be in the Nigerian Army.”
Another commenter, automatedkrazzy, added, “It is very necessary. Ogo should not go and die for nothing.”
The reactions reflect the growing concern among Nigerians about the safety of soldiers deployed to volatile regions, many of whom face life threatening conditions with limited protection and support.
