Businessman and lawmaker Senator Ned Nwoko has released new details and video evidence concerning the crisis involving him, his wife Regina Daniels, and her brother Samuel “Sammy West” Ojeogwu, who is currently in police custody.
According to report the Delta North senator posted a lengthy statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday night. In the post, he claimed that the videos show Sammy invading his residence and harassing his children and domestic staff, particularly when he was not at home.
“These videos show Sammy, Regina’s brother, repeatedly coming to my home and harassing my children and domestic staff, especially whenever I was not around. His visits were often aggressive and disruptive,” Nwoko wrote.
He explained that he decided to speak publicly again to counter what he described as misleading narratives surrounding Sammy’s arrest. He insisted that the situation was not a domestic quarrel but a serious security issue.
Senator Nwoko also outlined years of financial assistance he said he had given to Regina’s family, including Sammy.
“This is someone I sponsored through his last two years at the University of Ekpoma. I bought his musical instruments, rented and furnished a flat for him in Abuja. I also routinely provided allowances to all members of the family, including her mother, Rita Daniel,” he stated.
He further claimed that he transferred ₦125 million to Regina’s mother over the past two years.
The senator alleged that Regina’s rehabilitation efforts had been repeatedly sabotaged by her siblings and friends, who he accused of bringing drugs into his home while she was undergoing medical and therapeutic treatment.
“They would come into the house uninvited, sometimes forcing their way in, and would bring her the same drugs she was being treated for,” he said. “Instead of helping her recover, they encouraged her addiction and frustrated the efforts of the doctors and therapists.”
In his full statement, Nwoko claimed that several of Regina’s siblings and friends, including Sammy, Lawrence, and others, were also involved in substance abuse. He alleged that they introduced Regina to drugs and continued to supply her with them, making recovery difficult.
He recounted an incident where Sammy allegedly stormed his house early in the morning after Nwoko had asked Sammy’s girlfriend to leave the premises. According to him, Sammy became aggressive, shouted, and demanded that he come downstairs to face him. He said security personnel had to escort Sammy out of the compound.
Nwoko also accused Regina of displaying troubling behavior during her addiction struggles, claiming she would sometimes leave home at night and not return until the next day. He said she once spent the night at a nightclub, despite undergoing therapy at the time.
He described multiple occasions when Regina’s friends brought drugs into his home, violating medical instructions and undermining her treatment.
“Imagine the pain of a husband trying to help his wife recover, only to have the process sabotaged by her siblings and friends, the very people who should have supported her healing,” he said.
Nwoko maintained that the viral video showing a confrontation was recorded outside his home while he was away. He denied allegations that he sent thugs to beat Regina and stated that nobody was assaulted. He described the video as a staged act filmed by Regina’s siblings.
He also revealed that he had funded the education of Regina’s brother Lawrence, sending him to London for his master’s degree with $75,000 for tuition and living expenses. He said he offered Sammy a similar opportunity, which Sammy declined, choosing instead to remain in Nigeria to pursue his music career.
According to Nwoko, Sammy’s behavior has since become increasingly violent and unstable, leading to several arrests by both the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“What he needs now is total rehabilitation and professional guidance. Otherwise, his aggression and self-destructive tendencies will only worsen,” Nwoko stated.
These new claims come amid growing tensions between Nwoko and Regina’s family, following the actress’s recent public statement that her mother was being unfairly drawn into her marital issues.
Sammy West remains in police custody, as concerns continue to rise over the deteriorating relationship between both families.
