Uncle Nasco Shares Detailed Account of How Nollywood Actor Odira Nwobu Died in South Africa

Content creator Nwosa David, popularly known as Uncle Nasco, has given a detailed account of how beloved Nollywood actor Odira Nwobu passed away while vacationing in South Africa. The news of the actor’s death has continued to send shockwaves across the entertainment industry, with colleagues and fans expressing deep sadness over the tragic loss.

In a video shared on TikTok, Nwosa David explained that Odira Nwobu had been spending time with fellow entertainers in Johannesburg when he began to complain about chest pain and high blood pressure. According to him, the actor’s discomfort became noticeable shortly after an outing with his colleagues.

Despite feeling unwell, Odira reportedly continued the night with his friends, and the group ended up visiting four different clubs. Nwosa David noted that the actor had stated that his health was deteriorating even before the night ended.

He added that, upon returning, Odira Nwobu requested that his colleagues record a short video of him for an advertisement he was scheduled to complete. However, he was unable to finish the session and decided to rest. His condition worsened shortly afterward, leading to his unexpected passing.

The sudden death of the actor, who was widely known for his comic roles in films and social media skits, has left many in disbelief. Tributes have continued to pour in from fans, colleagues, and industry stakeholders who described him as talented, humble, and dedicated to his craft.

Born on May 24, 1982, in Enugu State, Odira Nwobu carved a remarkable niche for himself in Nollywood. He gained recognition after featuring in several comedy-driven films, with Goat Lover, released in 2011, standing out as one of his breakthrough roles. His unique style of humor later made him a familiar presence in numerous online comedy skits, endearing him to a younger audience.

According to an unverified report, his manager told BBC Pidgin that the actor had been managing high blood pressure prior to his trip. Earlier in the year, Odira also survived a car accident along the Lagos Ibadan expressway, an event that caused concern among fans at the time.

Odira Nwobu’s death has reignited conversations about the importance of routine health checks, stress management, and medical support for entertainers who often work under intense pressure. Many colleagues have used the moment to urge others in the industry to prioritize their wellbeing.
