Two Women Killed as Unknown Attackers Set Them Ablaze in Kano Community

Fear and uncertainty have taken over the Tudun Yola area of Gwale Local Government in Kano State after unknown assailants launched a brutal late night attack that claimed the lives of two women. One of the victims was reportedly set ablaze after being killed, leaving residents shocked and unsettled.

The incident occurred on Monday night at the home of Alhaji Ashiru Shuaibu, who is now devastated by the sudden and violent loss of his wives. Describing the horrifying experience, he said the attackers broke into the house while the family was asleep and carried out the killings without hesitation.

“They entered our house at night, killed my wives and then set one of the bodies on fire. I still do not know why they carried out this wicked act,” he said. He added that the attack has left him in a state of confusion and deep sorrow.

A neighbour who owns a CCTV system revealed that footage from the night showed three young men standing suspiciously at the entrance of the compound. According to him, the attackers appeared to have covered their faces to avoid being identified. The footage is now believed to be part of the evidence that will aid investigators.

The Kano State Police Command, through its spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident. He noted that a team of detectives has already been deployed to the area to uncover those responsible. However, he explained that the police would not provide additional details at this time due to ongoing investigations.

Residents of Tudun Yola say the attack has heightened fears in the community. Many expressed concern over what they see as a rise in violent incidents in parts of Kano. Some community members have called for improved security patrols and quicker responses to emergency situations.

As investigations continue, many are hoping that the perpetrators will be identified and brought to justice. They believe this will restore a sense of safety and stability to the neighbourhood.
