A routine journey along the Ilorin Kabba Road turned into chaos on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, after bandits launched a violent attack, forcing travellers and nearby residents to abandon their vehicles and flee into the surrounding bush for safety.
According to a report by Punch News, a traveller returning from Niger State said the attack occurred at about 6:30 p.m. He recounted that the gunmen suddenly emerged on the road and immediately opened fire, killing two people on the spot.
In a voice recording shared with reporters, the traveller said, “We suddenly ran into them. Everybody abandoned their cars and scattered into the bush.”
The full number of abducted persons could not be confirmed as the shooting continued during the assault, creating confusion and panic among those present.
A community leader, Mr Ayeoribe, confirmed that Eruku community has faced repeated attacks in recent weeks. He stated that the area has been under siege for three consecutive weeks without any effective response from authorities, despite multiple distress calls.
He lamented that residents have continuously appealed to both local and state governments for intervention but have received no assistance, leaving the community in constant fear.
