Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been crowned the CAF Women’s National Team of the Year for the third consecutive time, extending their dominance in African women’s football. The award, presented at the 2025 CAF Awards, recognises the team’s continued excellence and consistency on the continental stage.
The Falcons previously won the honour in 2023 and 2024, making this year’s victory their third straight triumph. Their latest win reinforces their status as the strongest and most reliable women’s national team in Africa.
Nigeria’s history with the award stretches back more than a decade. The team first claimed the title in 2010 before repeating the achievement in 2014, 2016, and 2018, and later securing consecutive wins in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Their 2025 success comes on the back of a remarkable year, highlighted by their record tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title. The Falcons defeated hosts Morocco 3 to 2 in a dramatic final, showcasing their experience, resilience, and depth. The victory reaffirmed their long standing reputation as Africa’s most successful women’s football team.
Beyond their on field achievements, the award also reflects the team’s steady growth and ability to remain united and competitive as women’s football across Africa becomes increasingly challenging.
Meanwhile, Morocco’s U 20 men’s team, who recently won the FIFA U 20 World Cup, were named the CAF National Team of the Year in the men’s category.
