Tennis legend Serena Williams has opened up about the emotional challenge of leaving her two daughters behind whenever she steps out for evening events.
The 44-year-old athlete, who shares daughters Olympia, 8, and Adira, 2, with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, spoke about motherhood:
“Well, tonight was definitely a little more difficult. I don’t like to leave my kids,” Williams said. “I have a nighttime routine with them every day.”
Speaking about the event, Williams expressed her admiration for Baby2Baby’s mission. “I love Baby2Baby because they’re really just about kids and helping so many babies and so many mothers as well,” she said. “They’re so supportive, so I just feel like it wasn’t easy, but it’s also nice. I get to come out, get dressed up, put on a little lip, and have some fun with some amazing people.”
Williams was honored with the Giving Tree Award, an annual recognition presented to a public female figure who has made significant contributions to improving the lives of underprivileged children. She received the award for her ongoing advocacy for women’s health, particularly in promoting awareness of Black maternal health.
Earlier this year, Williams also launched her first-ever children’s clothing line in collaboration with Janie and Jack. The collection features designs for both boys and girls, ranging in age from infancy to 12 years old. Her daughters, Olympia and Adira, starred as the faces of the collection, marking the first time Williams has led a campaign alongside her children.
Serena Williams continues to inspire as both a mother and a philanthropist, balancing her passion for family, fashion, and advocacy.
