Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo has refuted viral reports alleging that her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, lost his luxury fashion store in a fire during post-election protests in Tanzania.
Earlier on Thursday, several social media users claimed that Juma Jux’s high-end store, reportedly valued at over $780 million, was set ablaze by protesters following the country’s tense presidential election.
One user, Bolaji Fesomade, wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Reports from Tanzania say singer Juma Jux’s store, worth over $780 million, has been set ablaze and completely destroyed by protesters. The violence erupted after yesterday’s tense presidential election, which sparked chaos and unrest across several parts of the country.”
However, in a swift response via her Snapchat account, Priscilla Ojo clarified that while the store was affected during the unrest, it was not destroyed by fire.
She wrote simply:
“Looted, not burnt.”
The couple, who recently returned to Lagos with their young son after a lavish welcome-home party hosted by Priscilla’s mother, actress Iyabo Ojo, have yet to release an official joint statement.
Meanwhile, Juma Jux has remained silent on the matter, neither confirming nor commenting on the incident publicly.
Background on the Tanzania Unrest
Naija News gathered that Tanzania has been experiencing widespread protests following its October 29, 2025 general election. The unrest erupted after several opposition parties and candidates were reportedly barred from contesting, leading to public outrage and violent demonstrations across major cities, including Dar es Salaam.
Security forces have since responded with tear gas and gunfire to disperse protesters, while authorities have imposed a 6 p.m. curfew to restore order. Internet services were also partially restricted to curb communication during the chaos.
Despite the tension, local media have not confirmed any large-scale commercial property fires linked directly to the protests.
