Controversial Nigerian street pop musician, Portable, has revealed his intention to return to school, explaining why education remains important despite his fame. The singer shared his plans in a video posted on his official Instagram page, where he spoke about the need to balance success in the entertainment industry with professionalism and personal growth.
Portable, known for his energetic personality and raw street sound, said that going back to school will help him manage his music career more effectively. He explained that education would not only improve his understanding of business and communication but also enhance his ability to make better decisions as an artist. According to him, fame without proper knowledge can lead to mistakes that might affect a person’s career in the long run.
The singer, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, revealed that he holds an Ordinary National Diploma from Kwara State Polytechnic. However, he admitted that he did not collect his certificate at the time. Now, with his growing success and financial stability, Portable said he feels it is the right time to complete his education and obtain his qualification.
“I want to go back to school and finish my education. I am sponsoring other people’s children and my own children too. I do not want my children to be mocked that their father is not educated. I did not collect the certificate for my ND programme at Kwara State Polytechnic, but now that I have made it, I want to go back to school. This will help me manage my music career better and improve how I deal with people,” he said.
Portable’s revelation has sparked positive reactions from fans and followers who praised his decision to further his education. Many described his move as a sign of maturity and growth, urging other young artists to follow his example. The singer’s determination to return to school reflects his commitment to becoming a more responsible and knowledgeable figure in the Nigerian music industry.
