The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 20-year-old man identified as Alfred Habila, who was found lifeless in Abuja.
Habila, a native of Bogoro Local Government Area in Bauchi State, was said to have been working as a labourer before the tragic incident. According to reports, he was discovered in an uncompleted building located behind River Park Estate in Lugbe, a residential area in the nation’s capital, on the morning of Sunday, November 2, 2025.
A resident of the community, Engr. Jatto Abdulkareem, informed the police that he received a distress call from another resident identified as Joshua, who first found the deceased around 8 a.m. Abdulkareem immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a quick response from police operatives.
Upon arrival, the officers examined and documented the scene before moving the body to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada, where medical personnel confirmed him dead. The body has since been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
The FCT Police Command has assured members of the public that a full-scale investigation is underway to uncover the cause of death and any possible factors that may have contributed to the incident.
Residents of the area have expressed sadness over the occurrence and called on authorities to improve surveillance around uncompleted buildings, which are often left unattended and can pose safety risks.
