Senegalese American music star Akon has been arrested in Georgia after authorities flagged a vehicle registered in his name as linked to a wanted person alert.
The singer was taken into custody last Friday after Chamblee Police received a notification concerning a white Tesla Cybertruck associated with him. According to reports, an arrest warrant had been issued after Akon failed to appear in court over a citation related to driving with a suspended license.
The fifty two year old was initially taken to the DeKalb County Jail before being transferred to another facility after he was handed over to Roswell Police. He was later released on bail the same day.
According to a police report from Roswell, the warrant stemmed from an incident on September ten when officers discovered Akon’s disabled Cybertruck obstructing a busy roadway. A subsequent check revealed that the musician did not have valid auto insurance and had been driving with a suspended license.
