Panic erupted on Monday night in Agbada Village, Nasarawa State, after an outdoor church crusade was reportedly disrupted by suspected Fulani herdsmen, causing worshippers to flee in fear.
A viral video from the scene showed attendees running in different directions as confusion broke out during the religious gathering. The footage, however, did not show any weapons or direct acts of violence, leaving the exact nature of the disruption unclear.
The incident immediately generated speculation on social media. Many users linked the disturbance to suspected Fulani herdsmen, citing ongoing farmer–herder tensions in parts of the Middle Belt. Others suggested the possibility of bandit involvement, given the recurring security concerns across rural communities in the region.
Authorities have not confirmed any of these claims.
As of Tuesday morning, neither security agencies nor the Nasarawa State Government had issued an official statement regarding the reported incident or the identities of those involved.
Local residents expressed worry over the increasing vulnerability of night-time religious events, particularly in remote areas where access to emergency response services is limited.
No Casualties Reported
There were no reports of casualties or arrests at the time of filing this report. Community members say they are waiting for further clarification from security agencies to understand what triggered the panic and whether the disturbance posed any real threat.
Authorities are expected to release additional information as investigations continue.
