“Ordinary President” Praises Lt. A.M. Yerima, Calls for Apology from FCT Minister Wike

The host of Brekete Family, Ahmed Isah, popularly known as “Ordinary President,”

The host of Brekete Family, Ahmed Isah, popularly known as “Ordinary President,” has commended Naval officer Lieutenant A.M. Yerima for his professionalism during a heated confrontation with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other FCT Administration officials.

Speaking on his human rights radio and television programme on Wednesday, Isah urged either Minister Wike or President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue an apology for the abusive language directed at Lt. Yerima. He said:

"What happened yesterday, that soldier that stood there [Lt. Yerima] was representing Tinubu and Nigerians, and Wike disrespected him… This Lieutenant Yerima is the true reflection of the discipline our Nigerian military has. Let’s appreciate him. He respectfully neutralized the situation. Lieutenant Yerima, we are proud of you; you made the military proud and Nigerians proud."

Ordinary President emphasized that the officer’s conduct reflected the discipline and restraint of the Nigerian military. He criticized Wike for failing to apologize promptly and stated that if the Minister does not, President Tinubu should apologize on his behalf.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Nigerian military personnel, led by Lt. Yerima, prevented Wike and FCT officials from accessing a disputed parcel of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). During the confrontation, Minister Wike demanded the documents for the land, alleging that the property had no proper documentation, while Lt. Yerima insisted he was following orders from his superiors and advised Wike to take up his grievance with them.

The event has sparked widespread discussion, with calls from citizens and public figures for respect and proper conduct in official interactions between government officials and military personnel.
