Ondo Police Investigate Woman Found Dead in Hotel as Companion Flees

The Ondo State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the death of a woman, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, after her body was discovered in a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at a hotel located along the Ore Okitipupa Road. According to preliminary reports, the woman had checked in with a male companion, who reportedly fled the hotel before staff arrived to check on them.

A hotel employee, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case, said the pair had arrived earlier in the day. “The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when a worker of the hotel got to the room, the lady was seen lifeless on the bed, and the man could not be found. It was the person who drew the attention of other hotel staff to the scene. Immediately, the matter was reported at the police station in Ore,” the employee stated.

The staff member added that there were no visible signs of violence or struggle in the room, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade said that officers are actively working to trace the fleeing suspect. “Yes, the incident happened, and we have begun an investigation, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Ayanlade said, adding that forensic and investigative measures are being deployed to determine the cause of death.

The woman’s body has been transferred to a local hospital mortuary for further examination as police continue their investigation. Residents and hotel guests have expressed shock at the incident, while authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
