Nigerian Christians, particularly those in Plateau State, have mobilized in fervent prayers for Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, following an alarming warning from an ‘Anonymous Group’ that the pastor has been targeted for assassination. Rev. Dachomo, widely respected for his outspoken advocacy on behalf of Christians facing violence in the region, has reportedly drawn the attention of Islamic extremists and bandits. The threat is believed to be linked to his regular online videos highlighting attacks on Christians, which the group claims have influenced former US President Donald Trump’s warnings about potential intervention against terrorists in Nigeria.
The Anonymous Group, a decentralized international collective known for “hacktivism,” posted on Facebook on Friday night, stating that extremists have allegedly issued orders to assassinate Dachomo within the next seven days. The group described the pastor as a significant obstacle to the militants’ activities, alleging that he has become a “threat” to their operations. The post urged the public to immediately inform Dachomo and his family, calling the situation an emergency. “Circulate this message and make sure it gets to the family and to Pastor Ezekiel. This is an emergency. Share and mention all your friends and relatives in these areas. This must not happen. Do everything within your power to make this plan a failure,” the statement read. The post went viral, sparking widespread concern among Christians in Nigeria and abroad.
Following the viral warning, social media platforms were flooded with prayers and declarations of support for Rev. Dachomo. Many Christians described him as a fearless servant of God whose life and ministry are under divine protection. Emma Ike Ogbonnaya wrote, “This man has rekindled my faith in God. If I were in the same city as him, I would worship where he worships and have him as my mentor for life. Hurting him will be their greatest undoing.” Samson Bako referenced biblical precedence, stating, “Even in the face of danger, he said no one should pay ransom on his behalf. If he dies, his blood will speak for him.” Florence Obafemi added, “Killing him will worsen the situation of Nigeria before the US. It will truly confirm there is genocide. I believe he will not be killed.”
Other social media users invoked scripture and blessings over the pastor’s life, emphasizing the power of divine protection against all forms of violence. Maggie Sakala declared, “I declare Isaiah 54:17-18 over his life, family, neighborhood, and church in Jesus Christ’s name of Nazareth.” Victoria Moses wrote, “God will continue to use you to be a light of truth and a threat to the kingdom of darkness. The seal of exemption rests upon you.” Several followers highlighted that even if the extremists were to attempt harm, Dachomo’s spirit and mission could not be destroyed, stating that God’s intervention would ensure the pastor’s survival and continued ministry.
The warnings have sparked wider conversations about the security of religious leaders in Nigeria and the ongoing challenges faced by Christian communities in Plateau State and other conflict-affected regions. Many believe that Rev. Dachomo’s advocacy has brought attention to the persecution of Christians and prompted national and international awareness of the issue. Commenters urged both authorities and local communities to remain vigilant while trusting in divine protection. Elisha Adamu wrote, “Even though they kill him, they cannot kill his spirit, and God will raise up a prophet whose blood will fight for God’s people in the country.”
Supporters also reflected on the role of faith and divine protection in the face of mortal threats. Several highlighted that Rev. Dachomo’s courage is reminiscent of biblical figures who stood for truth despite imminent danger. Kushim Harrison commented, “The God that makes you survive cancer will still make you survive. Until God himself says your time is up, nothing will ever happen to you while fulfilling your assignment on earth.” Han Ephraim added, “After the death of Rev. Azzaman Azzaman, God has raised many preachers. No weapon fashioned against him shall prosper in Jesus’ name.”
As the situation unfolds, the Nigerian Christian community remains united in prayer, emphasizing both vigilance and faith. Many see Rev. Dachomo as a symbol of resilience and moral courage, standing against violence and advocating for the protection of innocent lives. Calls for prayers, awareness, and protective measures continue to circulate on social media, highlighting the determination of Christians in Nigeria to safeguard one of their most prominent leaders in a time of growing insecurity.
