Fresh controversy has emerged in the household of Nigerian billionaire and lawmaker, Senator Ned Nwoko, as reports allege that he has ordered the arrest of his mother-in-law, Rita Daniels, who is also the mother of popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
The crisis between the couple intensified after Regina reportedly moved out of her matrimonial home. Sources close to the family revealed that the senator and his wife have been involved in a serious domestic dispute, which has now taken a dramatic turn involving law enforcement.
It was gathered that Senator Nwoko accused Regina of substance abuse and claimed that she was evading rehabilitation after she publicly accused him of domestic violence. Their disagreement, which started privately, has now spilled onto social media, drawing massive attention and concern from fans and the entertainment industry.
In a post shared online, Rita Daniels alleged that Ned Nwoko had instructed authorities to have her arrested on or before Monday. She wrote, “Ned had issued an arrest warrant against me. I should be arrested on or before Monday.”
This statement comes just days after Regina’s younger brother, Sammy West, was reportedly arrested in Lagos and flown to Abuja under the senator’s directive.
Reacting to the development, Regina Daniels took to her Instagram page to condemn her brother’s arrest, claiming that it was a deliberate move to force her to submit herself for rehabilitation. She expressed worry over the growing tension in the family and called for public attention to what she described as intimidation.
Meanwhile, Regina’s elder brother, Sweezy, also took to social media to voice his frustration. He alleged that their brother, Sammy West, has been denied access to food, water, and legal representation, describing the situation as beyond an arrest.
Sweezy further accused Senator Nwoko of using his political influence to intimidate and silence the Daniels family. He claimed that the senator had vowed to keep Sammy in custody until Regina returns to his home.
The ongoing conflict has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing shock and urging both parties to resolve their differences amicably. Some fans have called for intervention from elders and industry stakeholders to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Neither Senator Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniels has issued an official statement addressing the latest allegations at the time of this report.
