Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has expressed concern over the alleged arrest and detention of Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Sammy West, reportedly ordered by Senator Ned Nwoko.
According to reports, Sammy West was arrested in Lagos on Sunday by security operatives on the alleged instruction of Senator Nwoko. His arrest is believed to be connected to the ongoing marital crisis between the senator and his actress wife, Regina Daniels.
The development came just one week after Regina publicly accused her husband of domestic violence and filed for divorce. The situation has since drawn widespread attention, with fans, colleagues, and social commentators reacting to the unfolding drama surrounding one of Nollywood’s most talked about couples.
Mercy Johnson, who has long been regarded as Regina Daniels’ godmother and mentor in the film industry, took to social media to voice her displeasure and question the legality of Sammy West’s arrest.
Expressing frustration over what she described as an abuse of power, Mercy wrote, “The worst form of injustice is pretended justice. A child was arrested, no one can or has been allowed to see him for two days. He was flown from Lagos to Abuja and is allegedly being taken to court from the airport. How did we get here? Nigeria, wow.”
Her statement has generated strong reactions from the public, with many Nigerians criticizing the alleged unlawful detention and calling on the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly. Some have also urged both families to handle their marital and personal issues privately rather than letting them escalate into public and legal confrontations.
Meanwhile, neither Senator Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniels has issued an official statement regarding the latest development at the time of this report.
