Man Axed to Death by Lover’s Children and Friends in Delta Community

Tragedy struck in Orerokpe Community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, after a man identified as Rossy Omatseye was brutally attacked and axed to death by the children and friends of his lover.

The horrifying incident occurred on Monday, November 10, and has thrown the quiet community into chaos. According to reports, Omatseye and his lover had a heated argument earlier in the day, which quickly escalated. When the woman’s children learned about the confrontation, they allegedly mobilized some of their friends and stormed the man’s residence to confront him.

The situation took a violent turn as the group reportedly attacked Omatseye with axes and other weapons, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene. Residents of the area said the attack was swift and brutal, leaving the victim in a pool of blood.

Following the gruesome murder, members of the deceased’s family, who hail from Ekpan Community in Uvwie Local Government Area, mobilized their own group and marched to Orerokpe in what appeared to be a retaliatory move. Their attempt to avenge his death sparked serious tension within the community, forcing residents to flee for safety.

Security operatives were immediately deployed to the area to prevent further violence. Their presence helped to restore calm, although fear and anxiety remain high among locals.

While eyewitnesses and community sources have confirmed the attack, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of filing this report.

Authorities are expected to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring those responsible for the killing to justice.
