The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ijeoma Arodiogbu, has dismissed renewed speculation suggesting that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and NNPP leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may be considering a political alliance.
Arodiogbu addressed the rumours while speaking on recent political developments. According to him, Kwankwaso is an experienced figure who understands the direction of Nigeria’s political landscape and is unlikely to team up with Atiku.
He expressed confidence that if Kwankwaso decides to make any major political move, it would favor the APC rather than any partnership with Atiku. Arodiogbu added that the ruling party expects several political realignments before the year ends, hinting that Kwankwaso could be one of the figures to watch.
He dismissed suggestions that Atiku could offer Kwankwaso a more attractive opportunity than President Bola Tinubu, insisting that such a scenario is unrealistic. According to him, Kwankwaso knows that Atiku’s political journey has reached its limit and would not consider following him into what he described as an unproductive direction.
Arodiogbu stressed that many politicians often fail to recognize when their influence has peaked, adding that Atiku falls into that category. He maintained that Kwankwaso is “too politically smart” to join forces with someone whose political strength, in his view, is no longer advancing.
The APC chieftain concluded by stating that any talk of a Kwankwaso–Atiku alliance is baseless, as Kwankwaso understands the implications and would not take such a step.
