Nollywood actress Judy Austin has advised young women to avoid rushing into marriage until they are mentally and emotionally prepared.
Speaking from her personal experiences, the actress highlighted the risks associated with early marriage, including divorce and the challenges of raising children alone.
Austin cautioned women against marrying a man solely because of pregnancy, stressing that such decisions often lead to regret. She urged young women to reflect deeply and ask themselves whether they can truly spend a lifetime with their chosen partner before committing to marriage.
According to her, mental readiness is key to handling the responsibilities and emotional demands that come with marriage. She also encouraged women to focus on personal growth, take time to understand people, and trust primarily in themselves and God.
Austin emphasized that self-reliance, hard work, and emotional preparedness enable women to make better choices in relationships. Reflecting on the consequences of early marriage, she noted that many women end up divorced or struggling to raise children they were not prepared for.
She added that early marriages have caused pain for many women, with some abandoning their homes after childbirth due to emotional and financial pressure.
Judy Austin married actor Yul Edochie as his second wife in April 2022, and the couple has three children together. She was previously married, but that union ended in 2013.
