Popular Nigerian gospel singer and minister, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, has opened up about how divine direction led him to his wife. He described their marriage as a testimony of hearing and obeying God’s voice.
During a recent message, the “Imela” and “Onise Iyanu” crooner revealed that his wife had been on a month-long fast in her church themed “Two Is Better Than One.”
Throughout that period, she felt a strong conviction that Nathaniel was her husband, but she still prayed for a clear and unmistakable confirmation from God.
“She told God, ‘This is my life. Please give me something very substantive,’” Pastor Bassey recalled.
On the final day of the fast, she attended a service and prayed specifically that God would speak Nathaniel’s name to her twice.
During the scripture reading from Isaiah 64, the officiating pastor suddenly said,
“And Jesus saw Nathaniel standing under the fig tree.”
Surprised by his mistake, the pastor corrected himself, but repeated the same error again.
That was all the confirmation she needed.
Pastor Bassey explained, “That’s how we married, by the voice of God.”
He encouraged believers to trust divine guidance in their relationships and life decisions, quoting Psalm 119:105:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
Since sharing this story, many have been deeply inspired to seek God’s direction in their love life, proving once again that divine timing and faith never fail.
