Gunfight in Gujarat’s Bilimora as Police Bust Alleged Interstate Weapons Racket; One Injured, Four Arrested
A tense gunfight broke out in Bilimora city of Gujarat’s Navsari district on Monday morning when the State Monitoring Cell, SMC, intercepted a gang reportedly involved in illegal weapons trading at a local hotel. The confrontation left one gangster injured and four others arrested, highlighting the ongoing challenge of curbing interstate arms networks.
According to police sources, the SMC team acted on precise intelligence and raided the hotel early in the morning. As officers moved in, the accused opened fire, sparking a brief but intense exchange. One accused, identified as Yashsingh Sundarsingh from Haryana, was shot in the leg during the crossfire and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital under police escort.
Despite the sudden attack, the SMC team maintained control and overpowered the gang within minutes. Three others were arrested at the scene, Rishabh Ashok Sharma from Madhya Pradesh, and Manish Kaluram Kumawat and Madan Gopiram Kumawat from Rajasthan.
The police also seized three country-made pistols and 27 live cartridges from the gang. A senior SMC officer confirmed, “During the exchange, one accused sustained injuries, and four accused were successfully arrested. A seizure of three country-made pistols and twenty-seven live rounds has been made from their possession. The situation is presently under control, and further details will follow after FIR registration.”
Following the shootout, Navsari district police and other units joined the SMC at the site to secure the area and begin further investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the arrested men are part of a notorious interstate criminal network potentially involved in illegal arms trafficking across Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Authorities have launched a deeper probe to map the gang’s operations and identify additional suspects.
The Bilimora incident, though brief, underscores the growing reach of alleged interstate arms syndicates in Gujarat. Police officials emphasized that surveillance and intelligence led operations will continue to prevent the spread of illegal firearms and safeguard public safety.
