A coalition known as Team Justice for Mohbad has issued a public call urging Wunmi Adebanjo, partner of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to present her son, Liam, for an open and independently supervised DNA test.
The demand follows ongoing tensions between Wunmi and the late singer’s family, who alleged that she failed to attend previous test appointments. Her legal representative has denied this claim, insisting that she has never evaded any procedure and remains willing to participate whenever officially required.
In a statement released on Monday, Team Justice for Mohbad challenged Wunmi’s lawyer to back his assurances with concrete action by taking immediate steps toward commencing the test. The group proposed that the DNA analysis be conducted between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and the child, Liam, to establish paternity.
The statement, signed by Toni Bart, read in part, “Following your recent comment published in the newspaper, where you stated that your client is ready for the DNA test at any time, we, Team Justice for Mohbad in Nigeria and the diaspora, issue an open and transparent challenge for you to back that claim with action.”
The coalition suggested that the test be carried out without delay to prevent unnecessary court processes. To reinforce their appeal, the group announced a reward of twenty million naira to be given to Liam if the test confirms he is the biological son of the late singer. Activist Martins Vincent, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, was named as the individual who would disburse the funds should the result support Wunmi’s position.
According to the group, the exercise should be conducted openly and transparently, with accredited media organisations, bloggers and independent observers present. They also proposed that a licensed pathologist collect samples in line with professional standards.
Team Justice for Mohbad emphasised that the initiative is aimed at promoting truth and providing closure, stating that it is not intended to malign Wunmi. “This challenge is not intended to attack your client. It is to uphold truth, accountability and closure in a matter that has affected millions of Nigerians and fans around the world,” the statement noted.
The coalition proposed Friday, 28 November 2025, as a possible date for the DNA test, subject to agreement from both parties. They urged Wunmi to accept the challenge and demonstrate her readiness for transparency.
