Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has finally opened up about her controversial marriage to billionaire senator Ned Nwoko, revealing that her mother actively tried to stop her from marrying him.
In a lengthy and emotional video shared on Instagram, Regina spoke candidly about her early marriage, dismissing rumours that her union was motivated by greed or financial gain.
“For seven years, my mum held me down. She tried, but I’m the one that has a coconut head,” she said.
“I’m ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually did, and it’s crazy. Everyone said no. You all should stop saying that I married out of greed. We were not broke. What amount of money can a man give to a mother to get her child that is practically providing everything in the house?”
Regina explained that her family, including her mother and brother, warned her against marrying Ned Nwoko, but she admitted that her feelings were too strong to resist. She also revealed the depth of her struggle, sharing that at one point she even considered ending her life rather than going through with the marriage.
The actress, who recently accused her husband of domestic violence, expressed regret over her decision, stating that falling in love with the 64-year-old lawmaker has been a painful experience. She also pleaded with Nigerians to stop insulting her mother, emphasizing that her mother never forced her into marriage.
