Father ‘Comes Back from the Dead’ as Family Notices at His Funeral in India

A family in Indore, India, experienced a mixture of shock, fear, and joy when their 70-year-old relative, Makhanlal Vaid, who had been presumed dead, began breathing again just as preparations for his funeral were underway.

Vaid had suffered a brain hemorrhage last week and was admitted to a hospital for surgery. Despite undergoing the procedure, his condition continued to deteriorate, and doctors placed him on life support. Unfortunately, his condition did not improve, and after careful consideration, medical staff withdrew life support. Believing he had passed away, Vaid’s family took him home to begin preparations for his funeral, a deeply emotional moment for his loved ones.

About thirty minutes after being brought home, in what his family described as a miraculous event, Vaid began breathing again. The astonishing moment came at a time when announcements of his death had already been posted on social media, and relatives had gathered at the family home to organize the funeral. Many who had come to pay their respects were stunned as they realized the man they thought had passed away was alive.

Vaid’s son called the incident a miracle and confirmed that his father is now recovering at home under observation. In a social media post, he wrote:

“We are praying for my father’s speedy recovery. We are grateful for this unexpected gift of life.”

This extraordinary case echoes a similar incident that occurred last year in Jhunjhunu City, Rajasthan, where Rohitash Kumar, a 45-year-old man, reportedly showed signs of life just moments before he was to be cremated.

Kumar, who was both mute and deaf, had spent several hours in a freezing mortuary after doctors declared him dead. Footage from the scene shows him wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by stunned onlookers, as he appeared to regain consciousness, preventing his immediate cremation.

Authorities later revealed that Kumar was an orphan living in a local shelter. He had fallen ill and was admitted to a hospital, where his condition worsened. Doctors, following formal procedures for death certification, failed to conduct a post-mortem examination that could have revealed he was still alive. The hospital staff completed paperwork and sent him for cremation without verifying his condition.

Police officials confirmed that following the incident, the principal medical officer and three doctors involved were suspended for negligence. Unfortunately, local reports later stated that Kumar passed away while undergoing emergency treatment following the ordeal.

These rare cases underscore the fragility of life and the importance of thorough medical verification before declaring death. In India, where cultural and religious traditions around death are deeply observed, families often rush to perform funeral rites, making these near-death recoveries even more dramatic and emotionally charged.

For Vaid’s family, the experience has been both terrifying and miraculous. They had emotionally prepared to say goodbye to him, only to witness a miraculous revival that has left them grateful and reflective. He is now recovering at home with medical support, surrounded by his loved ones, who continue to monitor his condition closely.

Such incidents also raise questions about medical protocols, the accuracy of death determination, and the need for careful monitoring of critically ill patients. While miraculous recoveries like Vaid’s are rare, they serve as a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the resilience of the human body.

If you want, I can also make an even longer, magazine-style version with subheadings, quotes, and comparisons to similar global cases to make it more feature-like and engaging. Do you want me to do that?
