Father Arrested for Alleged Abuse of Daughters in Delta State: A Disturbing Case Highlights Need for Vigilance


A disturbing case has emerged in Delta State, Nigeria, where a 54-year-old man, Mr. Edward Odega, has been arrested for allegedly defiling his three daughters. The Delta State Police Command confirmed the arrest, stating that the abuse had been ongoing for seven years and came to light after a school outreach program.

According to the police, the victims, aged 13, 15, and 24, were defiled by their father, who confessed to the crime during interrogation. The suspect admitted to starting the abuse when his eldest daughter was just 12 years old.

The police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the three children are receiving medical attention and the suspect is in custody, facing prosecution under Delta State's laws on sexual offences.

This case highlights the need for increased vigilance and protection for children. The Delta State Police Command is working to ensure justice is served, and this case serves as a reminder for parents, guardians, and communities to prioritize child safety.
